Hereunder you find an assortment of commonly asked NORMA questions:

  • What kind of change requests can be done?
    • There are several types of change requests. This includes:
      • Altering start or end date of a grant
      • Changing Administrator
      • Changing Administrating Institution
      • Applying for parental leave
      • Making budget revisions
      • Changing Grant Holder
      • Changing Co-Applicant
      • Withdrawing a Grant
      • Other
  • Who can make change requests for a grant?
    • The Grant Holder (Principal Investigator) is the only person able to make changes to a grant. However, both the Grant Holder and the Administrator can start a Budget Revision, where one can make alterations to their budget.
  • Why do I (as an Administrator) not have access to the grant yet?
    • The Administrator gets access to the grant after a NNF Grant Officer has approved and completed the grant acceptance process or change request. The Grant Holder receives an e-mail when a Change Request has been approved.
  • How do I copy text into NORMA without having formatting issues?
    • This is a common issue when copying from Microsoft Word or any other comparable word processors into NORMA. This is because Rich Text Editors often interpret formatting (such as fonts, headings, spacing, or lists) differently than word processing software. After pasting, please review and adjust the formatting as needed to ensure consistency with the intended style and layout of your content.
    • An alternative solution is to copy the text into a simple text editor (for example Notepad) and thereafter copying the text into NORMA.
    • For readability purposes, standard fonts, font size 11-12, and line spacing between 1.0 & 1.5 should be used.
  • Why are parts of my texts cut-off?
    • Another common issue is having images that are too large (in particular the breadth of the illustration). This can cause the format of the application PDF to be askew. A recommendation is to have large illustrations uploaded.
  • What types of illustrations and where in the application can they be uploaded?
    • Graphical images such as figures, charts, tables & images (etc) can be uploaded under the Proposal
    • A maximum of 4 illustrations in the following formats are: .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif, .bmp.
    • The dimensions of an illustration file may not be more than 1050 pixels high and 1550 pixels wide.
  • My Administrating Institution is not on the list?
    • In the application under the Institutional tab, there is a link to use if your organization/institution does not exist in the drop-down list.
    •  Please note, that it can take up to 5 days prior to approval. So it is advised to register the organization in good time.
  • How do I find out who the contact person is for my grant?
    • The contact person for a grant can be found in the grant agreement in section 4 or 5 of the agreement. The grant agreement can be found in NORMA under the Grant Holder portal (for grant holders) or the Administrator portal (for administrators).
